Our Journey: From Vision to Reality
Founded in 2022 through a visionary conversation between Chizyapo Chiponda and Tehillah, Black Valley Comics emerged from a shared dream to revolutionize African comic storytelling. Our mission was clear: create a platform that would amplify African voices, particularly from Zambia, in the global comic industry.
The addition of Mthandazo Siziba strengthened our founding team, bringing together diverse expertise and a shared commitment to supporting creative talent. We developed a sustainable business model that balances creator support with reader accessibility, offering both subscription-based content and free titles.
Today, we're more than just a platform - we're a movement towards making African comics globally recognized and financially viable for creators. Our vision extends beyond digital publishing to include physical publications, creator workshops, and community events.
